Debra Martin, MSPT, CLT is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University, located in Philadelphia, PA, and is licensed to practice Physical Therapy in Georgia and Tennessee. She has 17 years of experience in outpatient, inpatient, sub-acute and long-term care facilities as a PT. Debra has also developed specialized programs to get you back to an active life and to stay on track with the gains you've made in therapy! In 2002, Debra graduated as a Certified Lymphedema Specialist from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. In the past 8 years Debra has found creative ways of using the techniques she's learned in treating patients with various conditions involving swelling with positive results. Along with treating classic cases of upper and lower extremity swelling, Debra has found excellent success in the treatment of head and neck lymphedema, and is one of the most experienced CLT's in these cases in this area of the country. She has also worked with a variety of other types of swelling - from venous insufficiency to chronic edema after insect bites, and treated patients with Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (formerly known as RSD) with effective resolution of their trophic skin changes. Debra also specializes in the treatment of the endurance athlete, with over 600 hours working with rock climbers, adventure racers, trail & road runners, cyclists, and paddlers across the Chattanooga region. She has developed the Archer Physical Therapy Event Medical Coverage & Recovery Acceleration Program - a unique outreach bringing top quality health care to athletic events & competitions in the area. Starting in 2010, Debra has served on the Board of Directors for the Chattanooga Triathlon Club, and on the Strategic Planning Committee of the Wilderness Trail Association. In response to the January 12th earthquake in Haiti that occurred this same year, Debra became the Administrative Assistant for the Advantage Program, which has been working in Les Cayes, Haiti since 2001 with those who have disabling conditions. Debra enjoys cycling, hiking, photography, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, gardening, and spending quality time with her dogs.
